Mrs. Binegar’s modern novels class is getting to the end of the semester, but they aren’t quitting now! Right now they are reading and discussing the book written by Jonathan Safran Foer, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. It touches on subjects like 9/11, losing someone close to you and different points of view on these characters’ pasts. The novel is split up into 3 different perspectives, and they are all written in different ways. There’s Oskar’s perspective, he is a 10 year old boy who lost his dad in the tragic event of 9/11, and there are his grandma and his grandfather. Through the book, you follow Oskar’s quest to see what a certain key unlocks. The class has one more novel to read after this one and then the semester is over! If this sparks your interests, think about joining Modern Novels, the semester long class during 6th period ran by Mrs. Binegar.
